In der Konzeption von 2006 war vorgesehen, den Druckbehälter aus einem Oberteil (in Form einer Glocke) und einem Unterteil (in Form eines Tisches) zu bauen. Die obere Haube erfüllt außerdem die Aufgabe, den Innenraum auf einem angestrebten Temperaturniveau zu halten und wirkt gleichzeitig als zusätzliches Schutzheizelement, um Wärmeverluste am Rand der Probe zu vermindern.
