In addition to these technical control measures additional measures to minimize the significant influence of convection in the pressure vessel interior to the measurement results were necessary during the tests in the overpressure range. It was planned to be achieved by a change in the axial temperature field reducing the driving force for flow inside the pressure vessel. This measure, however, remained without success, so that more constructive measures proved necessary. To this end, the panel assembly was encased within the measuring apparatus of lifting devices, fiber insulation and a metal cylinder. The influence of convection on the panel assembly could be largely minimized. The still remaining convection between the metal cylinder and the heating zones leads to an increased cooling requirement in the upper hood.
