Das Messsystem besteht aus verschiedenen Heiz- und Kühleinrichtungen (siehe Anlage 3). Diese Einrichtungen umfassen entgegen dem Vorentwurf im Erstantrag Platten mit quadratischem Querschnitt (300 mm x 300 mm), anstatt einem kreisförmigen. Dieser Aufbau wurde wegen der günstigeren Probenpräparation gewählt und ist durch den Erfahrungsaustausch mit anderen Wissenschaftlern bestätigt§. Um den Vorteil kreisförmiger Platten mit einem in radialer Richtung homogenen Temperaturfeld nutzen zu können (kein Eckeneffekt, siehe Fortsetzungsantrag), ist die mittlere Heizplatte („Metering Plate“) kreisförmig konstruiert und gefertigt. Sie ist für die Erzeugung des eindimensionalen Wärmestroms durch die Probe zuständig. Die Voruntersuchungen zur Fertigung der
Heizplatte, die aus zwei dünnen Metallplatten und einem dazwischen eingebetteten Heizleiter besteht, zeigten Inhomogenitäten in der Verteilung des Lötmittel sowie auch im Temperaturfeld. Dies ist auf die Unterschiede der thermo-mechanischen Spannungen zwischen den Heizleitern einerseits und den beiden Platten andererseits zurückzuführen. Die Heizeinrichtung besteht als verbesserte Variante aus nur einer Platte, in die eine Nut gefräst wird, welche wiederum den Heizleiter vollständig aufnehmen kann. Die entstehenden Zwischenräume zwischen Heizleiter und Metallplatte wurden durch Lötmittel gefüllt. Die Heizplatten wurden abschließend geschliffen um die Planparallelität und Ebenheit der
Oberflächen zu gewährleisten. Diese Konstruktion stellt eine optimale Lösung für den Einsatz in der Messapparatur dar.
