In the loading position, the new parent roll is placed axially centered in the supports of the transport arms by an on-site crane or handling. Pneumatically operated locking levers secure the parent roll in the supports during transport. The transport arms are moved each by a geared motor with rack-and-pinion drive via linear roller guideways from the loading position to the unwind. The cones of the unwind move into the core of the parent roll and chuck it. Then the pneumatically operated locking
levers open and the parent roll transport system moves back to the loading position.
