Start/start the turbine
1. Make start preparations according to the checklist (see page 28)
2. Gas slider on OFF position (to the rear) (all LEDs must be off)
3. Bring the gas slider to the middle position - LED's now start to flash (running light) - green - red - yellow , green - red - yellow... flashing, etc.
4. Then bring the gas slider to full throttle (turbine is now started)
5. While the turbine is running up, the gas valve can now be returned to idle (central position).
6. The turbine is now kept at idle speed until the gas slider has also been brought back to idle position (middle position). Once this has been done, the green "OK" IS lit - LED and the turbine speed / turbine power can now be specified by the pilot.
7. The engine speed can now be driven up proportionally to full load speed by pushing the gas slider forward to a full load speed (from approx. 40000 rpm turbine speed, the centrifugal force coupling takes hold and the rotor system we put into rotation. In the Limits menu (see page 42), the start-up time (SpoolUp Time) of the turbine can be changed. The parameter "SpoolUp Time" determines the minimum time in seconds from idle speed to full throttle speed even with sudden throttle.
The standard value is 3.5sec. and can be used with the GSU up to 20sec. be set.
If the gas slider is quickly discharged from the idle position (middle position) to
position (upper stop), then the engine accelerates gently within the set start-up time.
As soon as the gas valve has been brought to full throttle (step 4), the Jet-tronic triggers the fully automatic take-off process. The start process can be aborted immediately at any time by pushing the gas slider to OFF (completely backwards).
After the startup process is triggered, the following happens:
1. The turbine is turned up over the starters to approx. 2000-3500 rpm.
2. Now the glow plug is switched on and the gas valve is opened.
3. The speed of the turbine is now slowly dropping again. The ignition normally sets in during the turbine's shutdown. If the ignition should not be used directly at the first test, a further ignition test is made (see step 1). If the turbine has not ignited within about 30 seconds, the start-up process will be aborted (green LED flashes).
4. As soon as the ignition has been used, the turbine is further accelerated via the starter. At approx. 4500 rpm, the fuel pump is then switched on automatically (red "pump running" LED lights up)
5. The turbine will now continue to be powered up to idle speed. As soon as the minimum speed has been exceeded, the starter is automatically disconnected and the yellow LED goes off.
6. The turbine is now briefly powered up to approx. 38000 rpm and then automatically stabilized to idle speed until the pilot has also brought the gas slider to idle position (= central position).
