Bei stark reduziertem Druck erfolgt in den Hohlräumen der Wärmetransport im Wesentlichen nur durch Strahlung, und es genügen entsprechende Schutzschirme um Wärmeverluste zu reduzieren. Bei steigendem Druck nimmt der Wärmetransport durch natürliche Konvektion kontinuierlich zu. Um diesen Effekt abzuschätzen wurden die Strömungsvorgänge im Druckbehälter für mehrere Fälle numerisch mittels CFD untersucht. Abb. 11 zeigt ein Beispiel, bei dem das Messsytem auf 1000 °C aufgeheizt ist.
